2009 SNMA Region II Conference Greetings from The University of Missouri Chapter of the Student National Medical Association!!!
It is our honor to serve as the host chapter for the 2009 Region II Conference during the weekend of October 30-November 1, 2009. The University of Missouri School of Medicine was the first publicly supported medical school west of the Mississippi River. For more than 160 years, the MU School of Medicine has improved health, education and research in Missouri by holding fast the values of the University of Missouri: Respect, Responsibility, Discovery, and Excellence. MU physicians treat patients from every county in the state, and MU is a primary provider of training for all physicians in Missouri. The school is among the first in the nation to offer the problem-based learning style of medical education and recently opened a state-of-the-art facility with over 10,000 square feet devoted to a broad range of simulation technologies. The simulation center is now one of only 27 world wide testing centers for the fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery program. The theme of the 2009 Regional Conference is Medicine at the Crossroads: Finding Your Direction. We have a weekend full of events designed to keep you busy, entertained, and engaged. We have a variety of informative workshops designed to for address the needs and concerns of both premedical and medical students. We hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity to network with some of the finest physicians from across the region, as well as to explore the myriad of opportunities our University of Missouri campus has to offer.
