Student Research Forum

Eligibility
1. Current SNMA members: Active (medical student) or Associate (pre-medical)
2. Registered and present participant at 2008 Region II Conference
3. Research completed prior to or during their term in medical school (for medical students)

Awards
1. Will be provided for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.
2. Winners will be announced at the closing ceremonies on Saturday evening.
3. Winners will be publicized in the JSNMA and other news publications of the SNMA

2008 Region II Conference Student Research Forum

I. Abstract
a. Must be 300 words or less
b. One abstract per person
c. Must fit on 8 1/2 by 11 inch sheet of paper with 1-inch margins on all sides
d. Include: Title, Introduction, Purpose, Methods, Results, Conclusion
e. Abstracts will be reviewed for completeness without error; selected entries will be notified promptly.
f. Due Tuesday, October 14, 2008

II. Application
a. Must be complete
b. Include a valid mailing address, phone number, and e-mail address for notification purposes.

III. Poster Presentation during conference
1. Registration/Set-Up for presentation to be held Saturday, October 18th between 7:30-9:30 A.M.
2. Space available for presentation is 4' by 6' board; poster presentation must fit into this space, attached to board by pushpins, staples or any other means.
3. Each poster must include:
a. Title
b. Abstract
c. Introduction
d. Purpose
e. Methods
f. Results
g. Discussion
h. Conclusions
4. Participant must provide his or her own mounting materials.

IV. Oral Presentation
1. Judging will occur Saturday, October 18th throughout the day from 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon. Presenters must be present during a pre-assigned 30 minute time frame within this window. During this time frame, each presenter will give an 8-10 minute oral presentation to the judges explaining their research. Judges will evaluate each poster, as well as the oral presentation, during the course of the 9:30 a.m. to 12 noon time frame. Each presenter will be notified as to the time of their oral presentation on the research forum bridge and will await the judges' arrival to evaluate their presentation.
2. The oral presentation is a vital component of competition; therefore, please be sure to register and be present at the conference to avoid disqualification.
3. Schedules for poster presentations will be provided on Friday evening via email and/or at the Friday Social located at the official hotel site.
4. Failure to appear for the oral presentation will result in automatic disqualification.
